Helena Bonham Carter plays Princess Margaret in The Crown Season 3 Image: NETFLIX
The makers of the hit Netflix web series, The Crown, just dropped the first official look of Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret in the third season of the drama. Along with Princess Margaret, viewers also got a sneak peek of Ben Daniels as Antony Armstrong-Jones, who plays Margaret's photographer husband.
A few days ago, the social media team of Netflix released the first image of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II. She replaced Claire Foy from the first two seasons and Matt Smith, who played her husband Prince Phillip, will be replaced by actor Tobias Menzies.
The pictures of the replaced royal actors were accompanied with cryptic captions. Captioned "patience", a picture shows Queen Elizabeth II holding a teacup; whereas the photo of Princess Margaret reads "hope" and Antony Armstrong-Jones's still is captioned "hurt".
Within a few hours of release, the pictures went viral on social media and fans of the show started speculating what's going to happen next. Comparisons of the previous actors to the new star cast kickstarted trail reactions on Twitter, and hashtags related to the show were seen trending on the microblogging platform.
Fans are particularly excited to watch Helena Bonham Carter play the troubled rebel Princess Margaret. In the first look, the Queen’s younger sister stares into oblivion holding a cigarette pipe. Tweeple poured in their reactions to show their excitement.
