How many times have you stumbled upon a product or service on Instagram that made you think 'shut up and take my money', but then had to give up because you could never find it for sale online? We have all been there, haven't we? But things may be changing very soon, and you can walk out with your prize without even leaving the Instagram app.

Facebook-owned image-sharing platform Instagram has started rolling out an in-app payments option to let users pay for items and services from the brand or service provider's Instagram page itself. Select users in the US and UK have received an update that lets them save their card details in the Instagram app to make payments. Users can also add a pin for security.

You can not only buy products but will also be able to book cars, make hotel/restaurant reservations and even buy movie tickets using the service. But businesses will need to register to offer these services on Instagram.

The Instagram platform has a huge potential to become a very potent shopping platform, considering its association with high-resolution images, which can help brands attract buyers.

The Instagram payments option is expected to be slowly rolled out globally, too. Instagram introduced shoppable tags in 2016, through which users can be directly linked to the brand's website to buy a certain product, but the latest update will let you complete the purchase without even leaving the app.
