WhatsApp coming to Apple iPads? Image: Reuters
WhatsApp might be working on a dedicated App for Apple iPads, according to reports by WABetaInfo, a website tracking and analysing WhatsApp's trajectory and updates. A data mining of the latest WhatsApp for Web app meant for Windows and Macs, makes reference to Apple tablets, giving rise to the speculations.
The report claims to have found references for iPad icons in the WhatsApp for Web update but doesn't specify whether there'll be a standalone App from WhatsApp or a WhatsApp like Web variant specifically meant for the Apple tablets. Considering iPads come in both WiFi-only and cellular connectivity options, both scenarios appear possible.

For the uninitiated, there is no official WhatsApp App for the iPad currently, but it can be used through third-party apps available from the App store but the experience isn’t quite seamless.
WhatsApp recently rolled out the Delete for Everyone feature which lets users 'unsend' or delete messages sent by mistake or to the wrong recipient within a seven-minute window. The Android version also had a design change, particularly in the emoji section.
The Facebook-owned messenger is also reportedly working on a WhatsApp Pay feature, which will allow users to pay and receive money through the messenger itself.
