The Vivo V9 shares a lot of similarities with the iPhone X Image: Twitter
The Vivo V9 is due to launch in India on March 23, but we already have some juicy details about the upcoming smartphone, and everything we know gives us Apple iPhone X vibes. If you are wondering why, here's a rundown of what we know about Vivo's upcoming flagship so far.
While we have little idea about the materials being used, we already have had multiple leaks and teasers about how the phone looks and it's evident that the V9 draws a lot of inspiration from Apple's iPhone X. The device is expected to come with an almost-bezelless display with a top notch, made popular by the iPhone X. The front does bear a striking resemblance with Apple's current flagship device.
The similarities continue on the rear panel too, where the V9 sports a vertically placed dual camera setup on the top-left corner exactly like the iPhone X. One major difference in the design, however, is the presence of a fingerprint sensor on the back panel. To recall, the Apple iPhone X doesn't have a fingerprint sensor.
The V9's similarities with the iPhone X doesn't only end with physical similarities. Vivo is reportedly packing some very specific features in the V9, which mirror the iPhone X. The V9 is expected to come with a front-camera packed with AI and AR-based features, which make the device capable of advanced facial recognition techniques. The iPhone X introduced similar features and the front camera is one of the highlights of the device.
Another feature the iPhone X introduced, based on the advanced front camera, was Animojis or animated emojis. The Vivo V9 too will feature a similar functionality in form of AR stickers.
Press renders of the V9 also shows a wallpaper, which is very similar to the Apple flagship's default background.
We don't have an official specification list of the V9 yet, but we have had an array of leaks and reports. According to these, the Vivo V9 will pack a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280) IPS display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 SoC or a 660 Soc. The device has been tipped to pack a 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card.
On the camera front, the smartphone is rumoured to come with a 16MP + 5MP vertically aligned dual-camera setup with LED flash on the back. The front camera will feature a powerful 24MP lens.
The smartphone is expected to run Vivo's FunTouch OS 4.0 OS based on Android 8.1 and come with dual-SIM (Nano) support. The smartphone will be made available in black and gold colour variants and will pack a 3,260mAh battery. Expected pricing of the device is around Rs 24,000.
