The devices will slot into the Rs 13,000 - Rs 26,000 price bracket

Smartphone giant Samsung on Monday launched four budget smartphones — Galaxy A6, Galaxy A6+, Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J8 — for India. The phones were unveiled at an event in Mumbai earlier today.

The J-series smartphones will occupy the Rs 13,000 - Rs 20,000 price bracket while the A-series will be more expensive, placed in the Rs 20,000 - Rs 26,000 range.

Samsung Galaxy J6

Specifications

The J6 packs a 5.6-inch HD+ SuperAMOLED Infinity Display and is powered by an Exynos 7870 processor coupled with 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, expandable to up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The dual-SIM device houses a 3,000mAh battery and runs a Samsung Experience ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo.

The device sports a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera with selfie flash.

Price and availability

The Galaxy J6 3GB RAM/32GB storage version will launch at a price of Rs 13,990, while the 4GB RAM/64GB storage version will be listed for Rs 16,490. The device will go on sale starting May 22.

Samsung Galaxy J8

Specifications

The higher-specced J8 will come with a 6-inch fullHD+ SuperAMOLED Infinity Display boasting an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. Under the hood, the J6 packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC and 4GB RAM. The 64GB internal storage can be expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. The dual-SIM device will ship with a Samsung Experience ROM based on Android 8.0 Oreo and packs a bigger 3,500 mAh battery.

On the camera front, the J8 comes with a 16MP+5MP dual camera setup on the back and a 16MP front camera for selfies.

Price and availability

The Galaxy J8 will go on sale starting June 20, priced at Rs 18,990.

Samsung Galaxy A6

Specifications

The Galaxy A6 will sport a 5.6-inch HD+ SuperAMOLED Infinity Display. The device has a core comprising of the Exynos 7870 SoC coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. The dual-SIM (nano) device has support for a microSD card (up to 256GB) and will ship with Samsung's trademark Experience ROM. It also packs a 3,000mAh non-removable battery.

The smartphone has a 16MP back camera and a 16MP front shooter, both accompanied by a single LED flash. The sensors support AI-features like Live Bokeh and Background Blur Shape.

Price and availability

The A6 32GB version will retail for Rs 21,900 while the 64GB version will cost Rs 22,900. The devices will be available for sale starting May 22.

Samsung Galaxy A6+

Specifications

The A6+ features a 6-inch fullHD+ SuperAMOLED Infinity Display panel with an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The device is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC working in tandem with 4GB of RAM. The 64GB internal storage in the A6+ can be expanded to 256GB via a microSD card slot. The dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone will run an Android 8.0-based Samsung Experience ROM. Like the J8, it packs a bigger 3,500 mAh battery.

The A6+ packs a 16MP+5MP dual camera setup on the rear and a 24MP selfie camera. Both cameras have their own LED flash modules and supports AI-powered features like Live Bokeh and Background Blur Shape.

Price and availability

The A6+ will be available to buy from online and offline outlets starting May 22 and will be priced at Rs 25,990.

Common features

All four devices come in Blue, Black, and Gold colour variants and support Samsung Mall and 'Chat over Video' feature, which allows users to chat on WhatsApp or the default messaging app while watching videos.

Offers

Buyers can avail Rs 1,500 cashback on the J-series smartphones and Rs 3,000 cashback on the A-series while buying through Paytm Mall or with ICICI cards. There will also be a one-time free screen replacement offer on purchases before June 20.
