Samsung's next big release — the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 — is just over a month away and leaks about the upcoming phablet have been coming in thick. The latest report about the impending launch is a good indicator of what colour variants we can expect.
The Note 9 is expected to be unveiled at the Samsung Unpacked event on August 9 and the South Korean tech giant has reportedly been sending out media invites for the launch event. One of the biggest innovations in the Note 9 is believed to be a 'reimagined' S Pen, which will have Bluetooth functionalities, allowing users to use it as a remote to control music playback or as an external shutter button for the camera, in addition to drawing and writing on the screen.
The revelation about the colour variants comes from a leak related to the S Pen. Tech website SamMobile recently got hold of the S Pen codes pertaining to different colour codes the stylus will come in. Considering bundled S Pens are colour matched to the original device, it may be safe to assume that the Note 9, too, will come in the same colour variants.
The complete list includes:
1. EJ-PN960BBEGWW: Black
2. EJ-PN960BJEGWW: Gray
3. EJ-PN960BVEGWW: Violet / Purple
4. EJ-PN960BLEGWW: Blue
5. EJ-PN960BAEGWW: Brown
This will be the first time we will see a Samsung device being launched with a brown colour scheme and various listings from mobile phone cases and accessory makers seem to corroborate the list.
Interestingly, there's no mention of a Gold variant, which is a regular fixture for Samsung and was also used as the teaser image in the official invite for the launch event. But traditionally, Samsung releases the Gold version a month or two after the main launch and the absence of the S Pen colour code may just mean it will not appear during the unveiling. Another reasoning is the Gold version may be a special limited edition of the device.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 rumours:
As per earlier reports and leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will have a design similar to the Note 8 and come with a 6.4-inch display. The device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Soc or an Exynos 9810, depending on the region, and come equipped with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of inbuilt storage, and a 4,000mAh battery. There have also been reports that the Note 9 may come with a triple camera setup on the back, like the one found in the Huawei P20 Pro. It will also reportedly have a hardware camera button.
