Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to launch today: Everything you must know

Smarting from the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung Mobile has left no stone unturned to make its next flagship, Galaxy Note 8, a special smartphone.

Teasing the upcoming Galaxy Note device, Samsung has sent out invites for an event at New York with an abstract image of a huge edgeless display paired with a stylus. The company has also hinted recently that Note 8 will come with dual rear cameras, becoming the first Samsung flagship to offer the much in demand feature.

If you’re curious to know about the launch, let us tell you that the event at New York will start at 11 am (EDT), or around 8.30 pm Indian time. Samsung is tipped to stream the event live on its official website. You can watch it by heading on to Samsung Mobile’s English or Hindi websites to watch it.

Prior to its launch, the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 has been the focus of rumour mills, hinting something new almost every day. And a majority of those leaks has hinted that the new phablet will be the biggest flagship from Samsung till date. With a 6.4-inch edgeless display, the Galaxy Note 8 will be a new jewel in Samsung’s crown.

The anticipated device has also been subjected to various leaks and renders, teasing the purported design of its front and back. And according to one of the most popular tipster Evan Blass, the phone will come with a Galaxy S8-like edgeless display accompanied by a Wacom-made S-Pen stylus and a dual rear camera setup.

Out of the two sensors on the rear, one is likely be 12MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.7 aperture and dual-pixel autofocus, while the other one will be an 8MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture. A few leaks also tipped that the upcoming phone camera will offer 2X or maybe 3X optical zoom. 

With the dual rear camera, Galaxy Note 8 will give a tough competition to Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus and the upcoming iPhone 7S Plus. 

The leaked images also hinted that the Galaxy Note 8 will house a dedicated button for its home-brewed AI Bixby. 

Under the hood, the Galaxy Note 8 is expected to pack Snapdragon 835 or an Exynos 8895 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. 

The smartphone is tipped to go for pre-orders starting tomorrow, and is expected to get delivered by September 15 onwards.

According to rumours, the Galaxy Note 8 will be available at 999 Euros or roughly Rs 75,451.

Samsung Mobile is expected to offer a few goodies like a wireless charger, fitness tracker or micro SD cards as part of the pre-order sale package.
