The hype around the new Marvel's Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4 is very real, and it seems like the world's favourite web-crawler's association with the PS4 may not end with just the game. According to latest rumours, Sony may be launching a special Spider-Man edition of the PS4 Pro.

Images of a Spidey-themed PS4 Pro first appeared on Reddit and got fans very excited. But it's better to take it with a grain of salt considering the font used in the image isn't consistent with the official PS4 Pro branding. In the image, there's a ':' between PS4 and Pro, which isn't there in the official text.

But it has done little to dampen fans' excitement and expectations. A Spider-Man special edition console cannot be ruled out either considering Sony owns the licensing rights for the friendly neighbourhood superhero. And with good old Spidey's stock as high as ever after Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, a Spidey special edition definitely makes sense.

PS4 isn't new to special edition console launches to bundle with big releases — something they have consistently done with Batman Arkham Knight edition, Uncharted limited edition and most recently, God of War.

The upcoming Spider-Man game is an exclusive for Sony PlayStation 4 and has been developed by Insomniac games, the studio behind games such as Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet and Clank. The game will let you slip into Spidey's suit and what's more, you even get to choose different Spider-Man costumes, including the Iron Spider armor that made an appearance in the Avengers: Infinity War movie.
