Oppo, on Monday, announced the Oppo R15 and Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition in China. The smartphones will come with an array of AI-focused features, including AI Intelligent Scene Recognition. The Oppo R15 has been priced at CNY 2,999 (Rs 30,500 approx) while the Dream Mirror Edition will be available at CNY 3,299 (Rs 34,000). There will also be a Ceramic Edition of the Dream Mirror variant priced at CNY 3,400 (Rs 36,000). All variants will go on sale starting April 1 in China and we are yet to hear from Oppo about any details regarding the India launch.
According to reports, the devices, both vanilla and Dream Mirror variant, come equipped with the AI Intelligent Scene Recognition technology in the camera which can recognise up to 16 scenes and 120 multi-scene combinations to help provide a richer and more satisfying camera experience. The front camera is also loaded with AI-powered features and a built-in AI chip enables the AI portraits mode. It can scan as many as 296 feature points on a face through a preloaded AI smart beauty feature.
Both the R15 and the R15 Dream Mirror Edition are dual-SIM (Nano) devices and sports a 6.28-inch (1080x2280) full-HD+ OLED display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Both devices have a similar unibody design with a bezelless screen with a top notch like the iPhone X.
On the camera front, both variants come equipped with a 16MP+5MP dual rear camera setup with EIS and LED flash on the back. The front shooter is a 20MP sensor.
The variants run Oppo's ColorOS 5.0 OS based on Android 8.1 and come with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. There's also support for MicroSD card up to 256GB in a hybrid configuration. Both handsets support Oppo's VOOC Flash Charging technology and comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back.
The Oppo R15 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 SoC, an ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. The R15 packs a 3450mAh battery and comes in Snow White, Hot Red and Star Purple colour options.
Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition:
The Dream Mirror Edition comes in a Red colour variant and is powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with the powerful Adreno 512 GPU. There's a slightly smaller 3400mAh battery powering the device.
The Dream Mirror Edition also has a Ceramic variant, which comes with a black ceramic back plate in place of the glass back in both the R15 and the regular R15 Dream Mirror Edition.
