Oppo today officially launched its premium Oppo Find X smartphone in India. The device features first-of-its-kind motorised cameras, which are hidden when the phone is in stock form but are revealed once the camera app is activated. Oppo is calling the technology the 3D Stealth Camera.

The device, priced at Rs 59,990, will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart from August 3. Pre-orders will begin from July 25. The Indian variant will have 8GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage. Oppo released a 128GB storage variant in its home market in China but it's not been announced for India yet.

To recall, the Oppo Find X was unveiled at an event in Paris and was priced at 999 euros (Rs 79,000 approx) for the 8GB/256GB version. The Indian pricing is considerably lesser than the European one. At the price point, it'll go up directly against Samsung's Galaxy S9 flagship.

The Oppo Find X packs a 6.42-inch FullHD+ display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It boasts a massive 93.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio courtesy of the camera slider innovation. The curved screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The smartphone is powered by the flagship-grade Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Soc coupled with the powerful Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The camera is definitely the Find X's USP. Both the front and back lenses are not visible when the device is in stock form but once the camera app is activated, the top of the phone rises up aided by a motorised mechanism to reveal both the front on back cameras.

The device features a 16MP+20MP rear camera setup with OIS and LED flash, while the front selfie camera is rated at 25MP. The smartphone also has IR sensors housed alongside the front camera to facilitate 3D facial recognition feature like the one in the Apple iPhone X. Oppo calls the technology the O-Face Recognition. But the Find X gives the traditional fingerprint scanner security feature a miss.

The dual-SIM (Nano) Oppo Find X runs ColorOS 5.1 ROM based on Android Oreo 8.1 and houses a 3,730mAh battery. It comes in two colour variants —Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue.
