There's only one OnePlus Experience Store in India Image: Twitter
OnePlus entered the Indian market around three years ago and within the short timeframe, has established it as one of the, if not the biggest, smartphone brands in the country. However, the Chinese smartphone giant has relied mostly on online sales through e-commerce website Amazon or their own portal to drive sales in the country. However, seems like the company is ready to increase their offline presence in the country substantially in 2018.
The company has had very limited offline presence in India and, up until last year, had no exclusive offline stores in the country before the first OnePlus Experience store opened in Bangalore. OnePlus has admitted that they will be building on it to extend its offline presence in the ten major cities in the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune and others.
"We will continue to focus on these two portals as our primary sales channels, but, going forward, we will be going offline in the top 10 cities where we are looking forward to opening our own stores," Vikas Agarwal, general manager of OnePlus India, said in an interview with a media agency.
"We are not going through a traditional offline channel. We will be opening our own stores and focusing on providing experience that should help us increase awareness in those cities," he added.
OnePlus recently entered a partnership with Croma retail store to sell OnePlus phones through Croma outlets. However, OnePlus products are only available in only ten Croma shops around the country. Agarwal said the company is looking to add more Croma outlets to the list in order to make OnePlus products more accessible to offline buyers.
"We recently partnered with Croma and are present in over 20 Croma stores. This year, we are going to expand our presence in the entire 100 stores that Croma has across different cities," he added.
OnePlus will be coming out with their next flagship, the OnePlus 6, soon.
