OnePlus has announced some serious expansion plans in India. The Shenzen-based company is reportedly planning to build its second global headquarters in India and develop a Research and Development (R&D) centre in the country.

The Chinese smartphone giant has also confirmed it will set up three new offline retail outlets in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. The stores will let you buy and experience OnePlus smartphones and products in person.

To recall, OnePlus opened its first Experience Store in Bengaluru last year. The company relies majorly on online platforms to drive sales but started setting up temporary stalls during product launches. It seems OnePlus is eager to increase their offline retail presence with the new stores. The company also revealed it plans to open 10 more Experience Centres in India.

The three new retail stores will be located in the Seawoods Grands Central Mall in Mumbai, South City Mall in Kolkata and 4th Block, Jayanagar, in Bengaluru.

"We are looking to increase our focus on offline to reach out to the large majority of the Indian market that prefers touch-and-feel stores for experience before purchase. However, we will continue to be a digital-first brand," says Vikas Agarwal, general manager of OnePlus India.

OnePlus will also set up its second headquarters in India to 'decentralise operations' but is yet to reveal the location. As for the R&D centre, Agarwal told the Hindu Business Line it will be set up either in Hyderabad or in Bengaluru by the year-end.

OnePlus has steadily established itself as one of the premium brands in India ever since its launch and has a large number of dedicated customers in the country.
