OnePlus 6 officially launched in India by Amitabh Bachchan, price starts from Rs 34,999

The Marvel Avengers edition also made an appearance

The OnePlus 6 was officially launched for India at an event in Mumbai earlier today. OnePlus's latest flagship will be priced at Rs 34,999 for the base 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant and Rs 39,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB storage version. The premium 8GB/256 GB variant wasn't announced for the Indian market but the Marvel Avengers limited edition was announced for Rs 44,999. Actor Amitabh Bachchan was at the event for the official unveiling.

The device will launch as an Amazon exclusive in India and will go up for sale for Prime members on May 21. The sale will be opened up for regular buyers from May 22.

OnePlus will be also setting up pop-up stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.

OnePlus 6 specifications

The OnePlus 6 sports a 6.28-inch fullHD+ Full Optic AMOLED display with 1080x2280 resolution. The screen has a 19:9 aspect ratio and boasts 84 percent screen-to-body ratio, courtesy of an Apple iPhone X-like top notch to house the front camera and sensors. Users have the option to hide the notch through the settings menu. The display is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and features the powerful Adreno 630 GPU. The OnePlus 6 will be available in three RAM/Storage combinations, namely 6GB/64GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB.

On the camera front, the device comes with a 16MP+20MP rear camera setup equipped with OIS, EIS, HDR, Portrait Mode and a dual-LED flash. The device is capable of Slow Motion video recording at 480 fps. The phone comes with a Smart Capture mode to automatically optimise camera settings according to conditions, as well as a native video editing app.

The 16MP front shooter has EIS and supports Portrait mode powered bu advanced AI algorithm to correctly judge the depth of field (DoF). OnePlus claims that the front camera can be used to unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds using Face Unlock feature. The fingerprint sensor returns and is situated just under the vertically placed dual cameras on the back.

The device sports an all-glass body and will be available in three basic colour variants- Midnight Black, Mirror Black and Silk White. The device also packs a 3,300mAh battery capable of Dash Charge.

The dual-SIM (Nano) phone will ship with an OxygenOS 5.1 ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo but an Android P Beta build will also be made available through OTA update on launch day.

OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Edition:

OnePlus and Disney have partnered up to launch the special Marvel Avengers limited edition of the OnePlus 6. The device will come with a carbon black textured back panel complemented by OnePlus and Avengers logos in gold. The alert slider on the side also adds to the gold highlights of the device. It seems that the Avengers edition may come with a special Iron Man-themed back cover resembling Tony Stark's Mark 50 Iron Man suit's helmet.

The device will also give users access to five exclusive Avengers wallpapers. The Avengers Edition will have the same hardware as the vanilla OnePlus 6 and come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
