The OnePlus 6 open sales in India finally went underway on Tuesday, May 22. The device was up for sale on May 21, too, but was exclusive only to Amazon Prime members. Apart from Amazon, the device can be purchased from the official OnePlus India website, 112 Croma retail stores across India, the OnePlus Experience Store in Bengaluru and seven OnePlus pop-up stores in seven cities. The pop-up stores will be temporarily set up at High Street Phoenix in Mumbai, Phoenix MarketCity in Pune, The Forum Vijaya in Chennai, The Forum Sujana in Hyderabad, DLF Place Saket in Delhi, South City Mall in Kolkata, Gulmohar Park Mall in Ahmedabad.
To recall, the base variant of the OnePlus 6 with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage has been priced at Rs 34,999 while the higher 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version has been priced at Rs 39,999. OnePlus is expected to launch a 256GB storage version soon but the price hasn't been revealed yet.
The device is available in Mirror Black (both variants) and Midnight Black (only 8GB variant) colour options. A Silk While colour variant is scheduled to launch on June 5 while the Marvel Avengers Limited Edition with 8GB RAM and 256GB and specially designed chassis will be available to buy from May 29 priced at Rs 44,999.
People buying OnePlus 6 from Amazon can avail of offers like no-cost EMI for up to three months through all popular banks. Buyers using SBI debit (Mastercard, VISA and Maestro) or credit cards to make the purchase before May 28 will get a flat Rs 2,000 cashback
OnePlus is also bundling complimentary 12-month accidental damage insurance by Servify, a Rs 250 Amazon Prime Video gift card, discounts of up to Rs 500 on Amazon Kindle ebooks with every purchase. Users can also opt to add an additional one year extended warranty for Rs 1,899 (for 6GB RAM version) and Rs 1,999 (for 8GB RAM version). One year extended Servify insurance against accidental and liquid damage can be bought for Rs 2,299 for 6GB RAM version and Rs 2,599 for the 8GB RAM variant.
Users can also exchange their old smartphones to avail of a discount of up to Rs 13,050. The amount will depend on the condition and model of the old phone.
Idea service users will get an additional cashback worth Rs 2,000 along with dedicated device insurance. OnePlus also announced benefits of up to Rs 25,000 on flight and hotel bookings through ClearTrip, but exact details of how the benefits will work are still unknown.
OnePlus 6 specifications
The OnePlus 6 sports a 6.28-inch fullHD+ Full Optic AMOLED display with 1080x2280 resolution. The screen has a 19:9 aspect ratio and boasts 84 per cent screen-to-body ratio, courtesy of an Apple iPhone X-like top notch to house the front camera and sensors. Users have the option to hide the notch through the settings menu. The display is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and features the powerful Adreno 630 GPU. The OnePlus 6 will be available in three RAM/Storage combinations, namely 6GB/64GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB.
On the camera front, the device comes with a 16MP+20MP rear camera setup equipped with OIS, EIS, HDR, Portrait Mode and a dual-LED flash. The device is capable of Slow Motion video recording at 480 fps. The phone comes with a Smart Capture mode to automatically optimise camera settings according to conditions, as well as a native video editing app.
The 16MP front shooter has EIS and supports Portrait mode powered bu advanced AI algorithm to correctly judge the depth of field (DoF). OnePlus claims that the front camera can be used to unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds using Face Unlock feature. The fingerprint sensor returns and is situated just under the vertically placed dual cameras on the back. The device also packs a 3,300mAh battery capable of Dash Charge.
The dual-SIM (Nano) phone will ship with an OxygenOS 5.1 ROM based on Android 8.1 Oreo but an Android P Beta build has also been made available.
