Instagram has added the option to shop for a variety of brands directly through its Stories feature. If any brand's or retailer's Instagram Story contains any purchasable product, a shopping bag icon will appear on the stories. Clicking on the sticker will reveal more details about the product, along with the option to buy.
Instagram already displays ads on its feed for customers to buy products without leaving the app. The update will be an extension to the image-sharing app's shopping features. To recall, the Facebook-owned app also recently included the option to add user details in the app itself to make payments.
As of now, the shopping through Stories feature will be available for brands like Adidas, Louis Vuitton, and Aritzia, but it is expected to be rolled out to other brands and regular users soon.
"Shoppers on Instagram are savvy. They visit Instagram looking for the latest trends and styles. With 300 million (people) using Instagram Stories everyday, people are increasingly finding new products from brands they love. In a recent survey, Instagrammers said they often watch stories to stay in-the-know with brands they’re interested in, get an insider view of products they like, and find out about new products that are relevant to them," Instagram said in an official announcement.
