Fortnite's 4.5 Content Update is now live. The new update will be adding a slew of new weapons and character skins to the popular multiplayer game by Epic Games. The new items include some themes to celebrate the American Independence Day on July 4.

Most of the new skins are for Save The World game mode but there are additions to the classic Battle Royale mode, too.

For Save The World mode, the update includes a brand new Freedom Herald Pistol. The weapon launches firecrackers which can bounce off walls and explode after rebounding. It can deal damage to enemies within a small radius.

The second weapon added to Save The World mode is the Stink Bomb. You can hurl it like a grenade to unleash a toxic cloud which can deal damage to enemies over fixed time frames. Stars and Stripes costumes and gears will also be available for a limited time in the event store.

The Battle Royale mode, too, gets a new weapon. The much-anticipated Drum Gun, inspired by the Tommy Guns from the 1920s, has been added to the game. The Tommy Guns, with round barrel-like ammo clips, have been iconic courtesy their appearances in several old-school Hollywood gangster movies.

According to the official description, the Drum Gun has the stopping power of a rifle and the fire rate of a Sub Machine Gun (SMG). The hybrid weapon can be found from floor loot, chests and vending machines, but will be rare.

Fortnite is the most popular game right now with over 125 million gamers worldwide. Fortnite can be played on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Mac, iOS, Android and Nintendo Switch. An Android version is expected to launch soon.
