After months of speculations and uncertainty, developers EA Sports have made FIFA 19 official. The trailer will be released tomorrow, on June 9.
The world's favourite sports game will feature Portuguese Real Madrid megastar Cristiano Ronaldo on the cover yet again. The promotional creative published by EA has him donning a Real shirt despite speculations that he might leave Real Madrid in this transfer window.
The FIFA series is one of the most popular video game titles in the world and FIFA 18, the last edition released last year, sold over 10 million copies worldwide. But there were many uncertainties surrounding FIFA 19 since EA Sports executive Andrew Wilson, in an interview with Bloomberg, said that the FIFA series may move into a subscription-based model like Netflix and the yearly standalone titles may be done away with.
But seems like it's business as usual with FIFA 19, at least.
An official release date hasn't been announced yet, but it's most likely to go up for sale in the last week of September or the first week of October. We will get to know more when the game is unveiled at the E3 event in Los Angeles this month.
FIFA 19 will be available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. EA already holds the rights to FIFA World Cup 2018 and included the headline tournament as a game mode to FIFA 18 through an official patch. For FIFA 19, it will be interesting to see if EA can add the UEFA Champions League, which is the only major tournament missing from the game's official licensed leagues and tournaments. Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) used to hold the rights for the Champions League and Europa Cup but the company's partnership with UEFA ended this year, leaving the door open for EA.
