Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 developer Treyarch has officially announced the beta release dates for the upcoming game for all platforms. This year, gamers will have access to two separate betas — Private Multiplayer Beta for traditional multiplayer game modes, and a special Private Blackout Beta for the Battle Royale game mode, which will make a debut in CoD games, this year. Past Call of Duty titles only came with one beta release.

For the uninitiated, beta releases are limited time access to a game before the official launch, which helps developers weed out bugs, fine tune gameplay elements and incorporate user feedback into the final release.

The Private Multiplayer Beta will be made live in August, starting with PS4, followed by Xbox One and PC. Here are the dates.

PlayStation 4 (Starts: August 3 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 6 at 10am/PT)

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (Starts: August 10 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 13 at 10am/PT)

PC Beta Early Access (Starts: August 10 at 10am/PT) *PC exclusively on Battle.Net

PC Open Beta (Starts: August 11 at 10am/PT – Ends: August 13 at 10am/PT)

Do note, PT or Pacific Time is 12 hours and 30 minutes behind Indian Standard Time or IST.

The Private Multiplayer Beta will feature fan-favourite game modes such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, along with a brand-new objective-based game mode named Control.

According to Treyarch's official post, "In Control, teams alternate rounds between attacking and defending two static objectives. Each team has a limited number of lives in this first-to-three wins match-up, so strategic strikes and defensive positioning are key, making for some fast and frenetic gunfights."

Gamers will get access to six maps in the beta, two of which will be brand new. Treyarch has also announced special rewards for beta participants, including a unique and one-of-a-kind calling card for everyone, while players, who achieve the best rank during the beta phase, will earn a Permanent Unlock Token to apply to any piece of Create-a-Class content when the game comes out officially on October 12, this year.

Treyarch also announced the Private Blackout Beta will launch for PS4 in September, and other versions will follow. The beta will be the first look of CoD: BO4's Battle Royale mode, which will debut this year.

The betas will only be available to people, who have pre-ordered the game.
