ASUS is ready to jump on the gaming smartphone bandwagon and is working on their own device to take on the likes of Xiaomi's Black Shark and the Razer Phone, according to reports. Even though it will be ASUS's first foray into the gaming smartphone world, the company has extensive experience with gaming hardware such as desktop PC components, gaming laptops etc under its ROG (Republic of Gamers) banner.

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen, in an interview with a Philippines-based website Astig, revealed that "it can be expected that the company will release a phone designed for gaming" in the near future. Shen didn't reveal any additional information about the device, but it can be expected that the smartphone will launch under the ROG brand name.

The competition in the gaming smartphone market has been heating up recently, with the launch of Xiaomi-owned company Black Shark's gaming smartphone last week. Razer's Razer Phone and ZTE's Nubia Z9 Red Devil Gaming Smartphone are other popular devices in the segment.
