Asus is all set to launch the ZenFone 5 series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, to be held at Barcelona from February 26. The company has started sending out invites for the launch event on February 27. The #Backto5 event will take place at 7.30 pm CET (12 am IST ) CET. The entire event will be live streamed on the official Asus website.
The Taiwanese giant is expected to release multiple smartphones under the ZenFone 5 banner, much like it did with the ZenFone 3 and 4. Last week an Asus phone with model number ASUS_X00QD got certification from the Wi-Fi alliance. It's believed that the phone in question will be the Asus ZenFone 5 Max. Not much is known about the handset except for the fact that it runs Android 8.0 Oreo and comes with a dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi support
Asus is also reportedly working on a ZenFone 5 Lite variant, which was recently spotted at a Russian certification site. The variant is expected to feature a 6-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and a Snapdragon SoC. The company has established the ZenFone series as a popular name in the smartphone world and will be looking to take it to the next level with the latest reiteration. The ZenFone Max variant was the first smartphone with a 5000 mAh battery and reverse charging capability.
The phone is expected to be first made available in online and then hit the retail stores after two weeks or a month, like the earlier versions of the ZenFone series.
