Football Fever mode can be played in a 3v3 versus format Image: Tencent Games
The FIFA World Cup fever is very much on and seems like the soaring mercury is overflowing into popular online games as well. Developer Tencent Games has added a special 'Football Fever' game mode to its popular Arena of Valor multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game.
The new game mode deviates from the classic gameplay elements and adds elements of football to it. Players controlling different heroes typically need to destroy opponent towers and kill minions in order to take control of the map to eventually destroy the enemy base or kill the opposing heroes. In the Football Fever mode, however, players will need to attack a football in order to send it towards the opposition goal. The 3v3 game mode features unique skills exclusive to this mode.
The update is available now and also introduces a new hero named Tulen, along with a new football fever skinned theme.
According to Aneesh Aravind, general manager, Tencent Games India, "If you are a fervent football fan then AOV’s Football Fever is going to leave you in a fever pitch. The best part is you can celebrate the World Cup by playing with your favourite heroes in quick 4-minute matches. We are very excited about this new game mode and am sure that our AOV fans in India will enjoy this World Cup-themed matches alongside their AOV heroes on a football field."
Arena of Valor, available for Android and iOS, is one of the biggest MOBA games in the world and boasts over 200 million active monthly players. Developed by Tencent Games, the game was first launched in China in 2015.
