E-commerce giant Amazon has released a lightweight web browser app called Internet for emerging markets. The app — called Internet: fast, lite and private — has been rolled on the Google Play Store and is currently available for download in select countries, including India.

The app is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 Marshmallow or above. It is under 2MB in size, which is much smaller than popular browsers like Chrome, Safari, Opera or Firefox. The Internet browser also claims to offer a private user experience and claims it won't ask any additional permissions or collect private data like other browsers.

Like Google Chrome, Amazon's Internet browser comes with a home page that features a section for trending news. Private tabs are also supported so that your browsing history is not saved. Other popular browser features like tab previews, automatic full-screen mode and others are also there.
