They say history repeats itself. Looks like, it is indeed repeating itself, even as we speak.

It was in 2015 that Netizens were torn between the colour of the DRESS – blue-and-black or white-and-gold. It was quite a heated debate people got engaged in. Riots broke out (only online) while discussing the super-serious matter at hand – the colour of the dress.

Cut to 2018, people have found their Blue/White dress debate in Yanny or Laurel. Things are even more serious this time, guys.

An audio clip has surfaced on Reddit, that has now made its way to Twitter, which has further seeped into the daily lives of people who are mind-f**ked deciding which name they are actually hearing in the clip. Is it Yanny or is it Laurel?

What did you hear? We'll tell you ours, if you tell us yours *sticks out tongue*

Netizens are taking votes on what others are hearing. It's clearly divided into Camp Yanny and Camp Laurel. Reactions have started coming in and things got pretty serious, pretty soon.

But there are souls like us, who have heard actually both – The minute I hit play, I hear Yanny and then continuously hear Laurel. Dafaq!

According to a report by The Verge, which quoted Lars Riecke, an assistant professor of audition and cognitive neuroscience at Maastricht University, “The secret is frequency. The acoustic information that makes us hear Yanny is higher frequency than the acoustic information that makes us hear Laurel. Some of the variation may be due to the audio system playing the sound. But some of it is also the mechanics of your ears, and what you’re expecting to hear."

Older adults tend to start losing their hearing at the higher frequency ranges, which could explain why Riecke could only hear Laurel, but his eight-year-old daughter could hear Yanny. It’s a phenomenon you can mimic on a computer. He says, "If you remove all the low frequencies, you hear Yanny. If you remove the high frequencies, you hear Laurel.”

Whoaa! Mind = Blown!

P.S. You've got to see John Mayer's take on it.

Dayam, son!

Ellen DeGeneres is team Laurel.

Can somebody help me? I am hearing more than Yanny and Laurel. I think I need to sit down. Oh, wait! I am seated. Going to doze off. Wake me up, when this all ends. #KThanxBye
