The only mouse we ever found cute was Stuart Little. That, too, cuz that dude was animated, not a real one. But IRL, we are dead scared of mice and rats. They are creepy and are a total menace to the well-being of our household stuff.
And Indian rats are the worst of the lot! They have been in the news for the wackiest things. Like being high on drugs, on weed, on alcohol, and what not. Now, desi rodents are also rich AF. If chewing on cash worth Rs 12 lakh is not being rich, then IDEK what is!
The bizarre episode happened in Tinsukia, Assam. An SBI ATM, that was out of order since May 20, was found to have been infested with rats. Yup. They made a home inside the ATM. That's swanky, in a very twisted way.
According to a News 18 report, Rs 500 and Rs 2000 currency notes amounting to Rs 12.38 lakh were rendered to mulch by mice inside the machine. Oh sheeeettttttt!!
The ATM was not working for a long time, but the technician only looked into the matter on June 11. Global Business Solutions, the company that runs the ATM, had refilled the machine with cash amounting to Rs 29 lakh on May 19. And the next day onwards, the machine stopped working.
SBI officials were able to retrieve Rs 17 lakh from the compromised machine. But the incident and the delay in fixing the ATM has given rise to suspicion. An FIR has been lodged with Tinsukia police by SBI.
Upon learning that something of this sort has happened, Tweeple had unique responses to the situation.
Waiting for a series to be made on the Rich Lives of Rats In Assam.
