Have you ever been late for work because you couldn't find your socks, which you had dumped into the washing machine last night? Been there, done that, right? And while we blame our mothers or our help for misplacing the socks, the evil washing machine goes unnoticed. 

Now a machine can't misplace our stuff... or can it? Because a Twitter user has unravelled a washing machine's secret identity as a sock-eater.

Apparently, when a washing machine spins at a very high speed, socks or small items slip through a hole or a slit and get trapped in the space below the metal washing basket.
