Virender Sehwag hasn’t congratulated Virushka on their wedding yet. What’s up, Viru?

Not that Sehwag was absent from Twitter. On Kohli's marriage day, he had retweeted Sadhguru and the very next day wished Yuvraj Singh on his birthday

Virender Sehwag is rarely quiet on Twitter. At times, he doesn’t even need a reason to leave social media in splits. But the fact that he didn’t wish Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma for getting married raised many an eyebrow.

Virushka's wedding ceremony was held in Tuscany, Italy, on December 11. And the moment the couple made an official announcement, most names from the cricket fraternity posted congratulatory messages. Harbhajan Singh did it on Instagram, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammad Kaif, VVS Laxman and Suresh Raina took to Twitter.

But Viru pa’s silence jogged our memory, reminding us of the widely reported rift between Sehwag and Kohli.

Earlier this year, Sehwag had reportedly blamed Kohli for not backing him for Team India’s coach position.

It was rumoured that Sehwag complained that he wasn’t chosen as coach for "lack of setting" with the BCCI. He had also revealed that Kohli asked him to ‘go for it’ but didn’t back him completely. Instead, Kohli chose to back Ravi Shastri for the top job.

In a statement earlier this year, Sehwag had clarified he never applied for the position on his own. “I never thought of coaching the Indian cricket team. I was given the offer... BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhury and MV Sridhar came to me and requested me to think on the offer. I took my time and then applied for the position,” he said.

He was further quoted as saying, “I thought since they are requesting me, I should help them. I never thought of applying on my own nor I will ever apply in future.”

Not that Sehwag was quiet on December 11. He had retweeted Sadhguru and the very next day wished Yuvraj Singh on his birthday with a wacky message.

Such selective tweeting is only the tip of the iceberg. Although the inside story is known to a handful of top-order BCCI officials, we can only hope everything’s okay between Kohli and Viru pa.
