Harmanpreet Kaur's brilliant 171 off 115 balls against Australia not only placed India on the threshold of history but also captivated the imagination of the nation. Harmanpreet's knock was a masterclass in its truest form, coming at a time when her team was looking down the barrel in a World Cup semifinal against six-time world champions.

The 28-year-old's innings was reminiscent of Kapil Dev's iconic back-to-the wall 175 against Zimbabwe in the 1983 Men's World Cup. India eventually went on to win the coveted Cup back then and Harmanpreet's exquisite century has presented the Women's team an opportunity to carve out a similar slice of history for themselves when they face England in the final at Lord's on Sunday.

With the entire country buzzing at the prospect of becoming the undisputed champions for the very first time in the nation's history, India made sure to pay homage to Harmanpreet for paving the way.

India men's team captain Virat Kohli led the charge with his congratulatory tweet. "Take a bow!! "Harmanpreet Kaur" ur magical innings made our day. Thanks for this memorable ride. India on the stronger side now," posted Kohli, who is on national duty in Sri Lanka.

Addressing Kaur as a "rockstar", newly appointed India team head Shastri posted, "Harmanpreet you rockstar. Simply awesome".

One of the key members of the current India set-up, opener Rohit Sharma hopes her knock turns out to be a match-winning one to help the Indian eves reach their second World Cup final.

"That's brutal power by @ImHarmanpreet! Hope it turns out to be a match winning knock. Some serious hitting there," Rohit wrote.

The master blaster Sachin Tendulkar himself lauded Kaur as soon as India's innings came to an end. "Incredible batting by @ImHarmanpreet! Come on India- Let's go out and win the second half of the game as well. #AUSvIND #WWC17 #WomenInBlue," he wrote.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag also hailed Kaur's effort, terming it as an innings of a lifetime.

"An Innings of a lifetime, Harmanpreet Kaur. What wonderful clean hitting. More than 60 per cent of India's runs. Fan! Over to the Bowlers now," Sehwag tweeted.

Kapil Dev, Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan and various others also hailed Harmanpreet on Twitter.
