Bishan Singh Bedi believes India skipper Virat Kohli will "struggle" to achieve what the Olympic medallist PV Sindhu has achieved on the world stage- consistently beating the best in the world. The spin legend also added that Kohli is yet to face real competition and the upcoming tour of South Africa will test his batting as well as captaincy skills.

Bedi, at the sidelines of a media event, praised badminton star PV Sindhu for her continued success against top players at the world level and dared Kohli to emulate that in cricket.

"Sindhu has achieved a lot over the years and I dare Virat Kohli would be struggling," the former India cricket captain said.

"She has been competing with the best of the world, but Kohli will now be in competition with the best of world in South Africa. The tour of South Africa will be a test for Kohli," Bedi added.

Kohli will be leading Team India in three Tests, six ODIs and three T20Is during the 56-day-long tour- one which has been repeatedly dubbed the litmus test for the 29-year-old.

Kohli had a great 2017, both as captain and batsman, and will be hoping to continue the momentum into 2018 with the Proteas posing the first test of the year.
