Six double centuries, over 50 international hundreds, nearly 3,000 runs in one year. Virat Kohli needs a break and he deserves it. And, if you’re still mistaken, he hasn’t taken a time-out to get married to girlfriend Anushka Sharma.

Kohli himself explained why he needs to put his feet up and relax before the South Africa tour commences.

After the third Test match against Sri Lanka ended, he said: "Last time I took a break, it was very difficult to handle. But my body is wanting it right now. My body has taken a toll in the last couple of years and now is the perfect time to take a rest from the game.”

Before the series had started, Kohli was vocal about the fact that he will take rest when required. "Definitely I do need a rest. When I think of the time my body should be rested I will ask for it, why not. I'm not a robot, you can slice my skin and check if I still bleed," he said.

India’s tour to South Africa isn’t going to be easy. Playing on bouncy pitches, especially with the new ball, is not going to be easy. Let’s hope Kohli returns with some renewed energy to take on South Africa.
