There’s someone who has enjoyed a longer association with Team India than any coach, physio or selector appointed by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). He is Jeff Goodwin, who has been the bus driver for the men in blue since the 1999 World Cup.
Goodwin is certainly not your regular chauffeur. In his decades spent behind the wheel, he has driven many international teams and cricketers around England, and in doing so, has amassed more anecdotes than one can imagine.
In a video posted by BCCI on Twitter, Goodwin revealed the secrets of many Indian cricketers, including veterans such as Sachin Tendulkar, Darren Lehmann and MS Dhoni.
He recalls how Tendulkar sat right next to him and how Suresh Raina once auctioned off his jersey to help his ailing wife.
Talking about Virat Kohli, he said the Indian captain always pulls his leg and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal joins the party by calling him an "old man".
Goodwin was also a favourite of the Australian team back in 2004-05, and was nicknamed Popeye by Lehmann.
