Serena Williams just missed out on something very, very special.
Her 10-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia, recently took her first steps, and Williams wasn't around to enjoy the momentous occasion. Because the 23-time Grand Slam winner was busy prepping for her upcoming Wimbledon round-of-16 clash against Russia's Evgeniya Rodina.
The seven-time Wimbledon champ was highly disappointed and was left teary-eyed after hearing about the development. She immediately took to Twitter and said, "She took her first steps... I was training and missed it. I cried," she posted.
Soon, many fellow moms pitched in with words of encouragement for Williams.
Williams, who won her record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam (the 2017 Australian Open) in the early stages of her pregnancy, is married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. After staying away from tennis for almost a year, she resumed her career with the Fed Cup earlier this year in February.
