The Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal rivalry takes another turn. Because Nadal just took a potshot at old foe Roger Federer by saying the Swiss legend chickens out when it comes to facing him on clay.
In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Nadal said, “He says he will love to play against me again in best-of-five sets on clay. He said that a couple of days ago — and I thought he would play Roland Garros. Then a few days later, he says he will not play in one event, so there’s a little bit of controversy with that.”
Federer had earlier revealed plans to play the upcoming French Open, which starts on May 27. He had said, “Last year, clay wasn't in my plans. If I play this year, I may combine Paris with maximum one or two tournaments.”
Nadal dominates the French Open, as he has won the tournament as many as ten times. This time around, he is armed to the teeth to win his eleventh Roland Garros title. “I’m practising well, I am playing with the right intensity, I think,” he said.
