If you go by what Tweeple are saying, Neymar is the perfect contender to win the best actor award at next year’s Oscars.

Even though Neymar was highly instrumental in Brazil’s round-of-16 win over Mexico, he is being severely criticised for overreacting in the wake of what seemed to be not-so-harsh tackles.

His latest critic is Republic of Ireland coach Martin O’Neill, who has previously managed Celtic and Premier League club Aston Villa.

Calling the 26-year-old Brazilian “absolutely pathetic”, he said, “Honestly, it’s a red card nowadays because they’ve spotted standing on his foot. But I mean the pain threshold of Neymar is just incredibly low, I must admit. I wouldn’t like to see him coming out of the doctor’s surgery after getting a flu injection. He’s a top-quality player, he’s a top-quality actor. He hasn’t really hit it yet… part of that thinking is to do with this play-acting. He’s been down dozens and dozens of times, he gets up again. He’s completed four games, he hasn’t done too badly out of it.” O’Neill said during an interview with ITV.

Brazil managed to win the game 2-0 and will now face Belgium in the quarter-finals.

Here are some hilarious Twitter reactions to Neymar’s on-field antics.
