Saturday football round-up: Barcelona thump Leganes, Manchester City rout Bournemouth

Barcelona wasted no time in dispatching Leganes in La Liga while Manchester City maintained their 100% win record against Bournemouth. Arsenal won big against Hull City and Borussia Dortmund dismantled FC Darmstadt

FC Barcelona followed up on their impressive win in the Champions League with a 5-1 thrashing of newly promoted Leganes in La Liga.

The Blaugrana saw Lionel Messi score twice and Neymar, Luis Suarez and Rafinha all getting a goal each as they put pressure on league leaders Real Madrid, who play tonight.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City showed no sign of slowing down with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Eddie Howe’s AFC Bournemouth to maintain their 100% start to the Premier League campaign.

Derby day heroes Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Ihenacho got the scoring underway before Raheem Sterling joined the party early in the second half. Summer signing Ilkay Gundogan marked his Premier League debut with City’s fourth goal.

Arsenal improved on their midweek showing against PSG with a convincing 4-1 victory over 10-man Hull City.

Alexis Sanchez missed a penalty but bagged a brace while Theo Walcott found the back of the net. Substitute Granit Xhaka’ sumptuous late strike is sure to have Paul Pogba eating his heart out.

In Germany, Thomas Tuchel’s Borussia Dortmund had no remorse for minnows FC Darmstadt as they won 6-0 without the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Mario Gotze featuring for them.

The Yellow Brigade saw Adrian Ramos, Sebastian Rode, Emre Mor and Chirstian Pulisic all scored while Gonzalo Castro notched up a brace.

Atletico Madrid finally found their footing in La Liga after a rocky start with a comprehensive win over Sporting Gijon.

Antoine Griezmann and Fernando Torres both got a brace with a Kevin Gameiro strike sandwiched between them.
