As the football World Cup enters the last phase, Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram is gearing up to host a unique movie festival coinciding with the semifinals and the title clash.
A four-day Soccer Film Festival will woo both film lovers and football fans, screening a string of movies with the sport as the theme on July 10, 11, 12 and 15, to be followed by the telecast of the day's matches.
The Kerala Chalachitra Academy, with the support of Thiruvananthapuram-based Street Library, will host the movie fest at the Manaveeyam Veedhi, a stretch dedicated to cultural activities.
Two Half-Times in Hell, a Hungarian movie directed by Zoltan Fabri revolving around a football match organised to celebrate Hitler's birthday, Emir Kusturica-directed Maradona and Iranian film Offside directed by Jafar Panahi are some of the movies that will be screened at the festival, academy secretary Mahesh B said.
The films will be screened at night and will be followed by a live telecast of the ongoing World Cup matches on the big screen, he added.
