Kuldeep Yadav shares the same dugout with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli while representing Team India. But in the Indian Premier League, they're not friends. Yadav plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders, Kohli for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Dhoni for Chennai Super Kings.
After a great stint for India at the international level, Yadav has chalked out a plan for the Indian Premier League. In an interview with CricketNext, he said he wants to dismiss Kohli and Dhoni this season.
“I would be lying if I said I don’t have any personal goals going into this season of the IPL. I, too, have a bucket list and I wish to dismiss Kohli and Dhoni. You don’t get better players of spin bowling, and the IPL is the only tournament when you get to have a go at them. Sometimes, I feel I am privileged that I am in the same team as them and don’t need to bowl to them on the international stage (laughs). But this year, I want to dismiss them, and this is the tournament that gives me that opportunity,” he said.
Kuldeep had a great tour of South Africa, where he worked wonders for India in partnership with Yuzvendra Chahal. India won the series 5-1. Talking about his learning experience during the tour, he said, “You get to play not just against the best in the business, but also get to share the dressing room with some of the big names and learn a lot from the professionalism and the dedication that is on display.”
Spinners play an important role in the Indian Premier League, especially against the overseas players. And given KKR's condition with Mitchell Starc and Chris Lynn injured, Yadav will be expected to perform.
