Virushka made up for having their wedding a continent away — by hosting a totally lit reception at Delhi's Taj Diplomatic Enclave, and making everyone get on their toes. Literally. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil star Anushka Sharma married the captain of the Indian cricket team on December 11 in Tuscany, Itlay. And hosted the first of their two post-wedding galas last night, and it was groovy.
From Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cricketers Suresh Raina, Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan, everyone was there — but the star of the show was a dancing Virushka. Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan was the guest performer for the night, and made India's newest hottest power couple jive on stage and off it.
Virat and Anushka danced to everything and with everyone. From Anushka jiving to Mauja hi Mauja with Shikhar Dhawan to Virat's classic Punjabi shaadi moves, Virushka took charge of rocking the night.
Both Virat and Anushka chose ensembles by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who had designed their wedding numbers, too. Virat opted for a black textured bandhgala with 18k gold buttons, a silk kurta with hand-woven brocade churidaar and a classic pasmina shawl, from Sabyasachi's Kashmir Revival project.
Anushka wore a red Banarasi sari with a diamond choker and jhumkas from the Sabyasachi Bridal Jewelry collection. Bollywood can play a major role in spreading awareness about Indian textiles and handlooms, feels the designer.
