Gonzalo Higuain is facing a possible investigation by UEFA after he showed his middle finger to fans during Barcelona's 3-0 win over Juventus on Tuesday.

Higuain was substituted in the 87th minute on a night when he was unable to step out of his celebrated compatriot Lionel Messi's shadow. With the result all but confirmed, Higuain walked off to jeers from the Barcelona faithful, on account of his past connections with Real Madrid.

A visibly frustrated Higuain was seen flashing the offensive gesture just as he sat down on the bench. While it is clear he was frustrated with himself and his team, Higuain could now miss the game against Olympiacos in addition to other games.

This comes soon after Dele Alli was reprimanded for the same gesture while being on international duty with England.

The English FA have sent the video of Alli showing his finger during the game and it would come as no surprise if UEFA gave Higuain and Juventus more than just a slap on the wrist.
