After beating Brazil 2-1, Belgium now face France in the semi-final on Tuesday

After Argentina, Portugal, Germany and Spain, five-time World Cup winners Brazil have also taken the flight back home. 

Proving to be yet another upset in Russia, the Selecao faced a 1-2 defeat at the hands of the Roberto Martinez-coached Belgium, who are eyeing their first ever World Cup victory.

In the four World Cups since the Selecao won the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea, they have been eliminated three times in the quarter-finals.

Brazil’s hopes of reaching the semi-final crashed when Kevin D Bruyne gave Belgium an invincible 2-0 lead in the 31st minute. Although Brazil roared back in the second half with a headed goal from Renato Augusto, it didn’t prove to be enough.

Now, Belgium face France in the semi-final on Tuesday.
