Unfortunately, people use Arjun Tendulkar's name liberally only when they have to compare him to Sachin. When Sachin dropped in at an event in Greater Noida, a reporter asked him the same old question — "Do you read the next Sachin in Arjun?" And Sachin chose to answer this with a straight bat. Asserting that Arjun should develop himself into a distinct individual, he said, "No, he should be 'Arjun'. There shouldn't be any comparison."

He further spoke about how he gives his son freedom to become whatever he wants to in life. "He's trying. Like my father gave me freedom, I'm giving him freedom. Whatever he wants to be in life, he has to give his best," he added.

Focus is important while pursuing your dreams and Sachin believes Arjun should follow his passion.

"Those things are there but his focus should be on the game and on his passion. That is what as a parent I would want. Comparisons would happen; if they want to do it, they will. But what I've learned from my father is that whatever work you've gone to do, keep your focus on that," he said.

Bringing comparisons between the father and son is anyway a pointless activity. Primarily because Sachin was a batsman and Arjun is still weaning himself into a fast bowler.
