Anushka's fashion line is in trouble Image: Viral Bhayani
Anushka Sharma's brand new Autumn/Winter fashion line, Nush, is in trouble. The collection is facing plagiarism charges, and there have been reports stating that many items from the 160-piece casual wear collection are copied from Chinese fashion portals. Meanwhile, the chief managing director of Suditi Industries, the company which has partnered with Anushka on the project, has confirmed that his company has all hands-on deck to fix the situation.
He confirms that the problem was caused because of a breach of faith by their manufacturer. And has also clarified that Anushka was never a part of the designing and procuring process.
"We just got to know about the discrepancies in some designs of our brand NUSH and we are taking strict action about the same. We have recently realised that some of our procured designs from the Chinese manufacturer were being available elsewhere too. This is not only is a serious design and procurement process lapse from our design and procurement team but also a breach of trust by the manufacturing company in China with us," said Pawan Agarwal, CMD Suditi Industries.
Anushka had recently posted a video on Facebook in which she is seen consulting and advising the Nush team on designs. "There were meetings we would have, at the sampling stage of the collection, and I remember slotting two hours for them but they went on for far longer. Some of them were at my home and I remember my mum saying, ‘Khaana toh kha lo'," Anushka was quoted saying at the launch of the casual wear line, according to a Mumbai Mirror report.
Among the items in question are a black bomber jacket with floral motifs, a pair of striped monotone pants, a pink bomber jacket, and a tan trench coat. "As we have realised now, some of the designs that we bought from the manufacturer was further produced and sold on a Chinese website. This is a clear breach of business practice implemented by this manufacturer," said Agarwal.
"We would also like to mention that some of the designs highlighted just have commonalities with prevelant fashion trends and are not copies as mentioned. So we, along with our partner Ms. Anushka Sharma, are also ensuring that these specific designs are not put on floor and will discard this out from our range," he added. \
Anushka had confirmed at the launch that she only provided inputs for the fashion line. "I give inputs on the styles, what works and what doesn’t, I wanted the aesthetic to be according to my personal style," said the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor.
