If you think wearing your favourite team's jersey is not enough, here's help to slay in style when you want to celebrate your team's win just like Dada aka Sourav Ganguly did.
We spoke to tattoo artists Vikas and Mickey Malani, of Body Canvas Tattoos, to help you pick the right design inspired by your fave cricketer. The younger bro, Mickey, is also the man behind the cool bike tattoo on Captain Cool aka MS Dhoni's arm. "Getting a tattoo just like your favourite sportsperson is a cool idea. I think Virat Kohli is every Indian’s favourite right now for his great performance during the last few years. And, he is quite the tattoo addict with 4 really cool designs," says Vikas Malani. So, take your pick of the designs and get celebrating already:
Cricketer Virat Kohli seems to be everyone's favourite enfant terrible of the cricketing world and with cool tattoo designs, he has upped his cool cred even more. "Tattoos like Virat's are in great demand. He has his zodiac sign, Scorpio, on the upper right arm and on the same forearm, he has the Chinese symbol of faith. On his left biceps, there's a tattoo of a Japanese Samurai warrior, sword raised, which has gained much popularity among cricket fans," says tattoo artist Mickey Malani.
Be it his signature Dali-style moustache or his tattoos, Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan is quite the trend-starter. Vikas says, "We’ve heard that his wife is also a self-confessed tattoo addict. Dhawan has a 'Carpe Diem' tattoo on the back of his left bicep, a tribal design on his right shoulder and another one on his back. Also, there's a bird on his left calf." Check out this cool tattoo done at Body Canvas Tattoos that is inspired by Dhawan's ink.
West Indian batsman Chris Gayle is quite the lion on and off field. He has proven that with his chest tattoo of a lion with a crown on his head, with wings on either side. Not only that, he has tribal-inspired art on both his arms. If a chest tattoo is too heavy-duty, you can easily rock a Gayle vibe by getting a cool tribal tattoo like this one.
Bowler Umesh Yadav is quite the ink collector and his tattoos are the perfect kinda inspo if you want to get spiritual with your design. Mickey says, "Umesh Yadav has five tattoos on his left hand, all the way from his shoulder to arms. Across the shoulder is a tattoo of Lord Shiva, below which is the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra. As a mark of respect and love for his mother, who passed away in 2011, Yadav got a Virgin Mary tattoo. He's also got a 'blessed child' on one arm, and on another, a symbol for luck."
