Summer is incomplete without fruity drinks. And if you are a fan of watermelon, this is the best time to enjoy it. From yummy popsicles to shakes and salads, watermelon is the best way to get your daily refill of water and sugar in the most natural way.
In this scorching heat, one needs to feel hydrated and cool from within, and the best way to do that is with summer coolers. Prashant Singh, head of F&B at Raasta, Delhi, says, "Watermelon is a fruit that contains vitamins and plenty of water to keep your body refreshed and relaxed. It is one supplement that can be used for all kinds of summer drinks be it, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. It adds natural sweetness and colour to the drinks, so make sure you make the most of it."
For a party at home, fruit-based cocktails can be really a good idea. Executive Chef Noah Barnes of Arriba Grill and Tequileria, Delhi, recommends, "In summers, enjoy fruit-based cocktails and prepare pitchers that can include actual watermelon. One can remove the core from the inside and serve the contents in the empty shell, it will not only look interesting but will also get you full marks for creativity."
Here are two watermelon-based cocktails that you can try at home without breaking a sweat:
Put watermelon chunks in a shaker. Muddle them well. Add tequila, triple sec, lime juice and watermelon syrup along with ice and shake well. Strain into a salt-rimmed margarita glass. Garnish with watermelon rounder.
Muddle and shake all the ingredients together. Strain and pour the drink into a tall glass. Garnish with lime wedge, serve.
