Sophie Turner's hair game as Sansa Stark is pretty strong
No, we're not making this up. Sansa Stark is a quiet, powerful, badass Game of Thrones character. But you already know that. Thanks to Season 6, where Jon Snow disobeyed her, you'd be a fool to take Sansa lightly. Actor Sophie Turner, who plays the complex Sansa, says how everything about her role gives a hint to the plot movement. Starting with her gorgeous hairstyles.
Her range of braids will make any serious hairstylist sit up and take notice. But the thought behind each of her hairstyle is what we are here to talk about. Each of her hairstyle holds a clue to her current or upcoming predicament. “There’s always a pattern,” says Sophie in an interview to Refinery29. She says that the hundreds of looks she’s worn over the past six years all have a deeper meaning. “It’s never random,” she reveals.
“Sansa’s hair is constantly reflecting the people she’s learning from, or mimicking, or inspired by at the time,” Sophie explains. “When she’s Cersei’s prisoner, and she’s kind of absorbing all her manipulative techniques, it’s reflected in her hairstyle, and when she’s finding the spirit of Margaery in herself, she wears her hair like Margaery.”
You wonder if she even has a favourite look out of those hundreds of styles. Oh, she does. And just the one you'd expect the Stark daughter to favour. “I’ve always liked when Sansa’s hair was dyed black and pulled back in very tight, taut French braids. It was her own look, and something that she’d created.”
Sophie has natural blonde hair, btw. So she has to dye her hair to a coppery red twice a week just to make sure she stays in character. Well, now you know what to pay attention to when another of 'em chilling teasers are released. So, Sansa's hairstyle holds a clue or two? Be sure of that.
