Rocky S is rocking it in the global fashion circuit and how. The designer is all set for his hat-trick at the prestigious London Fashion Week. Rocky will be showcasing his Autumn/Winter 2017 collection, Vida, at the London Fashion Week tomorrow. Apart from this feat, Rocky has also earned rave reviews for his collection at the French European Indian Fashion Week (FEIFW) last year. The designer, all excited about his special achievement, shared some glimpses of his collection with us. Take a look at the latest from Rocky S, even before it hits the runway!
Vida, the Sanskrit word for discovery, combines old-world charm with New Age edginess in dramatic silhouettes and decorative prints. The colour palette signifies the contrasting sides of a soul — joy and fear — in contrasting shades of ivory and black with undertones of dusty greys and smooth beiges. Textured lace and embroideries with free-flowing silhouettes and flattering cuts highlight the grandeur of the Gothic era.
Rocky has been keeping away from Indian fashion weeks for a while now, focussing his energies on the global fashion circuit. Ask him about his international fashion forays, and he says, "I have always aspired to showcase my work at one of the major fashion capitals of the world. Presenting at London Fashion Week has been nothing short of a dream come true."
It's no mean feat to be presenting thrice at such a high-octane global fashion event. Talking about the achievement, Rocky says, "The love and appreciation I have received for my work is so heartening and overwhelming and I am thrilled to be showcasing my work at such a prestigious platform for the third time. My designs are a glance into my life and my journey as a designer and as a person- growing and learning each year."
The gorgeous Amy Jackson will be the showstopper for Rocky and this isn't the first time the Singh is Bling actor will be walking for the designer. She was the showstopper for Rocky at the FEIFW last year. Rocky also shared his thoughts on his lucky mascot. He said, "I love designing for women who are confident in their own skin, ambitious and driven. Through my designs, I aim at adding to that confidence and zest. Amy Jackson is a perfect reflection of that drive and ambition. Her style is effortlessly and she carries any outfit with complete ease."
The designer, though treading the international route, is not at all ignoring his Indian aesthetics. "With every season, I try to incorporate new aspects of Indian techniques in my collections. From experimenting with traditional embroideries to handcrafted textures, I add a touch of cultural appeal in harmony with western design aesthetics," Rocky says.
"Moreover, I consider this as an honour to be a part of the global fashion industry and to have my designs acknowledged by the global audience. Having said that, as a creative person, it is always the art that matters. Showcasing something that is a perfect illustration of your creative energy, is an accomplishment on its own," the designer, who has styled celebrities including Paris Hilton, Beyonce and Priyanka Chopra, adds.
While we will surely be rooting for Rocky to make India proud on the global fashion platform yet again, here's a dekko at some of the outfits from tomorrow's collection.
