With this year's Met Gala theme being 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination', R&B star Rihanna walked the red carpet dressed like the female Pope the Vatican has never had.

The Diamonds hitmaker, who was one of the hosts of the event along with Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace, completed her Pope look by wearing a headgear that was reminiscent of the papal tiaras worn by popes from the medieval era until the mid-1960s.

She teamed her bejewelled hat with a white beaded Margiela corset mini dress under a full skirt. Rihanna accessorised the dress with a pearl anklet and a bejewelled crucifix necklace.

Tweeple were impressed by her on-theme dress and gave their thumbs up to the look.
