If you've been wondering how Shah Rukh Khan manages to keep fit all year, here's the big truth. He works out religiously. The 52-year-old actor keeps up with fitness trends with the help of his personal trainer Prashant Sawant. SRK recently took to Instagram to introduce Prashant, who has been training him for the past two decades. Yup, a long time, if you ask us.
So, we did what we do best. We got in touch with Prashant, who owns the gym Body Sculptor in Juhu, and coaxed him to spill the secret to SRK's fit body and share all the dope on the actor's daily fitness regimen.
Prashant is experienced in creating tailored workout routines and nutritional plans to meet the needs of his clients. He tells us what SRK focuses on while he's at the gym. "Even at the age of 52, SRK doesn't have any serious health issues and looks fit. We do a daily workout of one hour, which has a lot of functional training and weight training. He mainly focuses on strengthening his knee muscles and we do theraband exercises for that. We also work on his weight training to gain muscles and strength," Prashant reveals. Now, that clears the air about all that beefing up Shah Rukh has to do for his roles.
The actor, however, doesn't usually hit the gym outside and prefers to work out his muscles at home with expert training from Prashant. Here's what Shah Rukh's current regimen entails.
Functional training: Functional training is a combined training and the types of equipment allow your body to move in a manner similar to how it would in everyday life situations. As a form of workout, it doesn't aim at gaining weight or muscles. The idea is to shape up to look presentable. That's how you have your Raees, spiffy and fit, year after year.
Weight training: Weight training helps strengthen skeleton muscles with the help of weighted bars, dumbbells or weight stacks. The primary advantages of weight training are increased strength, muscle mass, endurance, improved cardiovascular health and appearance, among others. An actor's gotta look great, after all.
Push-ups and planks: Prashant makes sure all his celeb clients go through some basic workouts that everyone can easily accomodate in their daily fitness routine. SRK is no exception to that. Push-ups, pull-ups, crunches, squats, planks for balancing the core and even skipping feature in his regimen.
