Paddles is perhaps the most powerful cat in New Zealand Image: Twitter
New Zealand's Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern's cat, Paddles, has officially taken over Cat Internet with her Twitter account. “Hi, I’m Paddles and I am the First Cat of New Zealand. I have opposable thumbs, I’m purrty special.” read her debut tweet. And. We. Can't. Even.
Me before becoming First Cat. Life was so easy. It was the campaign of my life and I am honoured to serve both people and puss. pic.twitter.com/dwf5hDVT5J— Paddles (@FirstCatofNZ) October 22, 2017

Paddles is an orange and white cat and is a total Twitter celebrity in the making. She already has over 10,000 followers and she's not just politically aware, but also gender sensitive. Her Twitter bio reveals her full name as Paddles Ardern-Gayford and her Twitter bio reads “First Cat of New Zealand. Have thumbs, will tweet.”
Gender is a social construct for humans but I was assigned female cat at birth. https://t.co/EmwHiZa3dl— Paddles (@FirstCatofNZ) October 23, 2017
I think they need more cats and the cats they do have need more pats. That would solve a lot. https://t.co/k7sABm7vuk— Paddles (@FirstCatofNZ) October 23, 2017
While many have suspected that it's perhaps the Kiwi Prime Minister's own account, the real identity of the account user is still unknown. In fact, Arden has said in an interview that she is not behind the initiative, and neither is her partner. But we're not complaining, cuz hooman or no hooman, Paddles is fierce AF.
Thanks Mum for bringing me out so I can speak to the press. Must give the people what they want - and what they want is me. Prrrrp ❤️ pic.twitter.com/uiA1jk3qeN— Paddles (@FirstCatofNZ) October 21, 2017
