Miley Cyrus is back with her latest single, Malibu. The long-time-no-see phase is officially over. The singer performed her new track live for the first time ever this weekend at a radio channel's show. Before her performance, though, she released the video of Malibu on all her social media handles. Her last solo release was Bangerz in 2013.
The 24-year-old singer was a special guest in the show and was dressed in a simple white top and shorts. After her performance, she thanked her fans for their relentless support, "I gotta tell you, I just kind of got tears in my eyes when I was singing that last little part of the song."
The Wrecking Ball star called her performance a "dream come true" and said, "I just want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart, because I really do feel like this is a dream come true, being able to sing this song Malibu for all of you all, right here, right now, and I so look forward to continuing to release music that hopefully makes you all smile and dance and be happy and be full of peace and love."
The single also has an emotional connect for her because she wrote this track about her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth. The couple split in 2013 but got back together again and they might wed soon.
“I knew that when we weren’t together the first time. I didn’t know if that was the end of it or knew if we’d be back together again, but knew that wherever I was going was on the right path,” said the Hannah Montana star, adding, “People that break up and get back together, I think that’s awesome because you know it’s true, but also you get time to be yourself. You get time to grow up.”
During her performance, she also sang her hit number We Can’t Stop and a cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene.
