In 16 years of her professional life, Kareena Kapoor Khan has never looked out of place, and a lot of it has to do with her hair. Blessed with great genes from Babita and Randhir Kapoor, the gorgeous mum-to-be tells us the reason behind her perfect looks onscreen. At the launch of a hair-care brand, the actor gave us some serious hair tips and hair goals to boot. Loop in to this:

On having good hair days, 24/7:

In 16 years, a lot has been done with my hair. And I’m blessed with great genes, so I am proud to say I have mostly used my natural hair for films. And I am not balding yet. Not till the next 20 years.

On favourite hairstyles:

I think Shah Rukh Khan’s hair is really great. A lot of female actors use extensions. What do you know? Ask me.

On Bollywood's obession with hair:

Bollywood mein zulfein toh bahut important hain. A blower fan and hair flying in the frame makes a song a hit. Hair is very important. Especially for Indian film actors. My hair played a very important role in making my characters look and feel real.

On maintaining hairstyles:

A good shine spray always helps to keep the hair looking glossy and shiny. When you look at a heroine in a frame, you first see her hair. So, maintaining a certain look of the hair through the film is important. It’s also crucial to have a good hairstylist for that, and to have a great shampoo to keep the hair clean.

On hair-care routine:

It’s important to get a hair colour touch-up done once every six-eight weeks, especially for people in my profession. A hair spa treatment from time to time is also important. As actors, we use a lot of products on the hair while shooting films and ads. So, it’s nice to visit a salon once every six-eight weeks. And we must take that time out to maintain the hair.

On not experimenting with haircuts:

Yes, I haven’t cut my hair short because I am paranoid about my hair. I love my hair, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s also about suitability and whether doing something to my hair suits my personality and the role I am playing. I think I love my hair and I am not chopping it in future either.

On changes post pregnancy:

My hair has never felt better than now. That’s one thing that has been on the upside.

On personal favourite hairstyles:

Jab We Met and Don… my hair has always looked good. I can’t remember when it didn’t look good.

On bad hair days:

I have never had a bad hair day. If I ever have one, my salon looks after me and sets my hair right.
